Well, this day was bound to come.
Came back from Norway and Sweden, all excited to see the new pieces out of the kiln. Headed to the ceramics studio, all giddy in my state of jetlag, but eager to see the new pieces. Only to be let down.
As you saw from the last entry, I was playing around with some wax resist with baybayin, and I wanted to try a new glaze. Alas... neither turned out as intended. Painting on the wax resist looks messy and haphazard. The glaze is actually wrong... because I wasn't paying attention to the samples, and I thought I was using a black glaze instead of this brown color. Bloop. Even with the brown glaze, it didn't turn out either because of how uneven the coverage was. The glaze looks better in the thicker areas, so I'll keep that in mind for the next round.
But yeah. Really disappointed. Was so excited to get back from vacation to put these pieces up on the shop, but I think they'll stay on my shelf, as little vessels for my vintage billiard balls.
Shakin' it off. Learning from this, and moving on.
Still sad though.
