Trimming Gaudí Bowls

Trimming Gaudí Bowls

Getting to the studio always feels so great. It's like exercise. It's tough to carve out time, but once you get out there, I can just stay for hours, and I feel great afterwards. So much progress tonight.

Trimmed the 4 little Gaudí bowls. Very happy with how consistent I'm becoming. Look at how regular they look. They're slightly different in thickness, since I want to see what will ultimately feel best. This whole Gaudí exercise and playing with different shapes is an exploration in feel–how the object feels in your hands when you use it. So weight/thickness will obviously have an effect on that.

This is the plan: to hold it in your hand, so I made sure to trim the bottoms in a very pleasant round shape. Also, they're good for both left- and right-handed folks, so that'll be fun to see how Swanberg enjoys them.

Very happy with how round and pleasant the bottoms turned out. Looks like they'd be a lot of fun to hold.

Was also able to throw a bunch of stuff. Threw 4 things and only scrapped one. The mess is one of the best things.

And of course, just a little reminder to always be intentional. Ha. Let my head wander for just a minute as I was wrapping up, and of course, I ended up shoving one of the cups into the shelf. Tsk tsk. Lucky me though: it folded in very symmetrically, so it now matches the Gaudí bowls. Left it as it is, so we'll see if this one turns out to be usable.
