Trimming Gaudí Mugs

Trimming Gaudí Mugs

So the struggle to make these not look like penises continues. Haha. But they're looking good, in all their glory! Drying at a consistent rate, no cracks, definitely still attached, and feeling very secure. I'm hoping that they'll look less phallic once they're glazed. All these brown skin tones are not helping. Ran into another fellow studio potter today, and I told her of the unforeseen struggle: how not to make these look like penises. She said, "You know, that's really the whole struggle with pottery, isn't it? Have you seen this?" And she pointed out a very large and very phallic piece in the studio. Welp. I guess another method will just be to lean into it and exclusively make sexually charged pieces. There's an idea.

Here they are, all trimmed and ready to be bisque fired.

And the mug that got dented is also coming along quite nicely. All trimmed and round and pleasant to hold. Might be making more of these because they're so fun to have in your hand. Reminds me of bao and siopao.
