Baleia Blu Ceramics
Baleia Blu (ba-LAY-ah-bloo) is a study in imperfection. The pieces, the process, the journal entries, the brand–nothing is perfect. I've decided to document the entire creative process here–mess, flaws, and all. (Side note: Email me if you find a typo, so I can fix it.)
From rediscovering the craft, learning new techniques, finding inspiration, designing the brand, developing partnerships, and eventually launching the shop. You can follow the journey–and see if I learn to embrace the mess. As they say, it will all come out in the wash.
When glaze moves across texture, sometimes there are little surprises–an unexpected pop of color or a graceful drip. Similarly, Baleia Blu has surprised me in how meditative the process is and how much centering the clay has helped center me. When you give creative energy space and time to breathe, you allow for little surprises to come up more often, so I'm highlighting some journal entries below that explore the process and the practice beyond the clay: a little surprise to me.
